The Gift of Christmas

During the busyness of the Christmas season, it’s important that we pause and remember the true significance of this celebration. It is the birth of the Christ child who was born to save the world. He is the true Christmas gift.

Thinking back over two thousand years ago, on a night similar to our Christmas Eve, a mother was preparing to give birth to the Holiest of Holy ever born on our planet. Born miraculously to a virgin, Christ came into the world as a tiny baby so that He may one day die so that we may know eternal life.

My poem, “The Gift of Christmas,” gives honor to the blessing of Christmas Day.

The Gift of Christmas

The Angels came to give You praise
The shepherds stalked to see Your gaze

The Bethlehem Star lit up the heavenly sky
To mark earth's Gift, life's reason Why

The swaddled Babe lay at rest
He has come for us, to do God's best

Mankind He is here to save
No other could be the central Nave

He loves with open accepting arms
In them no one can suffer harm

God-Made-Man for us to live
His life He did so readily give

Little One comes bearing love and truth
Sacrifice and pain is Your final roost

You came to show and lead The Way
Knowing You would lose Your life one day

Loved beyond more than we will ever know
You give us forgiveness so readily to show

Little Child so safely nestled in a curl
You are The Bearer of light given to the world

We, the fallen needy, accept Your grace
Knowing the love given in Your Face

You are God's Blessing in His sight
You alone will work to make all things right

The Gift of Christmas, our God's Delight
Tells the story of His omniscient might

So little heavenly Baby, You sleep tight
While the Angels in Heaven celebrate this night

Jesus Christ is The Truth, The Life, & The Way
So we give our thanks & praise on this Christmas Day
