Immortality
Immortality
Where does the period and new sentence begin?
It varies with each, but there is never really an end
Just a transition from that to this
But a somber immortality is what we risk
Energy goes on, never lost, but transformed
Means we are not dying from the moment born
Oh, how our simple minds cannot conceive
What does it really mean to live and to be?
Here life and living are such a brief sojourn
Death is temporary, no need to mourn
After the comma, a brief pause, then we see
There is no real period or end for you or me
Like a mere drop of water in the sea
Joined together we make one unity
Just as the lone solitary blade of grass
Conforms and grows into a single mass
Each person you have touched also changes your life
Together our interaction is what makes us blithe
Just as each unique puzzle piece fits together in union
This sharing of love becomes our communion
His eternal plan holds and reveals our fate
Like a giant jig-saw it makes a picture vast and great
He allows us to choose; it is never too late
God does all of this from love for our own sake
What lies beneath and within
Holds and hides our deepest sin
But Love is able to conquer all
God will draw us into Him then enthrall
Molecules can rearrange
Appearances may then change
What once was will be no more
We become glorified bodies made to soar
When we hear the trumpet music floating in the air
It will confirm and acknowledge God has
always been there
God created us for Him and immortality
His Son makes this possible for all a reality
Forever is what the eye just can't see
It is the place, land, dimension of eternity
We are eternal spiritual beings moving through
A temporal perishable world waiting to be reborn and made new
"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord,
'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans
to give you hope and a future.'" Jeremiah 29:11
"However, as it is written: 'What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived' the things God
has prepared for those who love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen,
since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:18
"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love.
Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them." 1 John 4:16
