Be Kind

Aesop, Jesus, Mother Teresa, and Maya Angelou, to name a few, remind us to be kind to each other. Kindness is defined as the act of being friendly, generous, and considerate. Kindness can be described by affection, warmth, gentleness, concern, care, compassion, and warm-heartedness. It requires intentionality to be kind, as it is not a passive trait. It is a choice to be kind and always the right choice.

In a world full of violence, suffering, and inequalities, it has become increasingly important to be kind to our fellow man. It seems such a simple gesture with little effort, but this act may at times require great courage and strength to reach out to another with benevolence. If each one of us made this effort, we together can make the world a better place, so be kind.

Be Kind

When a wrong is done that you don’t understand
Know that what matters is which side you land
So be Kind

Know that others may be suffering deep hurt and loss
We will never know what they have experienced and the cost
So be Kind

Open your heart to those with less
There are so many things they may have missed
So be Kind

Some dreams are wished upon a star
But others dreams remain remote, distant, and very far
So be Kind

If feelings and emotions are angry and terse
Remember to still try to place others first
So be Kind

Always give mercy, forgiveness, and grace
Don’t be concerned what others think and with saving face
So be Kind

No one knows what suffering and pain
Lies undetected driving another near insane
So be Kind

Hearts torn, all broken and in quiet desperation
Make for severe actions without contemplation
So be Kind

Remember God’s gift is of unmerited love
Is ours alone given from Heaven above
So be Kind

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
