Time to Timeless

Time has its blessings in that it assuages our pain, hurt, sorrow, and loss. It softens thoughts, feelings, and emotions that were formerly intense, at times unbearable or possessive. It also gives us freedom, releasing us from mundane judgements and expectations. But oh how it is wasted on youth. When we finally discover our true selves, who God created us to be,  we find there was much more we could've done with our lives. With this wisdom gained, we then find Time conquering and consuming us, hastening us to the finish.

When we are young, time seems to last forever. As we grow older, it starts to contract, almost collapsing. It's as if we are accelerating or racing towards the finish line, our true home with God, our Creator. He is our heart’s true yearning and longing; only He can fulfill, satisfy, and complete.

Time to Timeless

Time bound by a moment,
not clock hands
Our life it holds, controls, and commands
Fleeting as a red bird's song and a whippoorwill's call
Degrading, deteriorating subjects are we all

Vapid vapors vanishing as quickly as they form
As humans Time does mold and conform
A bloom that bursts to just disappear
Death's specter always hovering so very near

Time changes, beings warped by Time
We play and act as mimicking mimes
Once so idle and so lingering
Now, from then hastened, no longer malingering

Time casts memories into the past
Moments gone, lost forever, never to last
So they live only as thoughts in the mind
Not real, imaginary, never to find

But, oh Time, the gift you give to embrace
Softens lost love, pain, and hurt too hard to face
Faded reflected emotions and feelings now lost
When then we thought impossible to bear the cost

Freedom it gives from our old worries and cares
Despite its blessings it remains unfair
Caught and trapped in Time we remain
Outside changing, inside staying the same

We are just muses and jesters, puppetry to the ticking
Time is the master of the foolery and tricking
Where the mind stays still, not joining in

The body becomes aged and worn; it cannot win

The waste on youth is the cruel joke
Then to become lost, empty, no words spoke
Minions to Time, we get left behind
Searching for a reason, but nowhere to find

The past becomes a misty dream, just a blink
An entire lifetime can be contained in God's wink
With Time everything vanishes in the end
Nothing left to hold, to touch, to begin again

All memories fade away
No permanence, never again to stay
But love is what Time can't destroy
It is what brings us real happiness and joy

Built into us is a yearning and longing
We speed up Time towards home for belonging
Love only lasts; it is what was always cast
He loved us first, drawing us to Him so fast

Our lust is for God, our soul's desire
His love is in our hearts, its enduring fire
True love connects us to God above
As He is the origin and source of all love

Timelessness created Time into which we fit
He has woven our life's tapestry with a perfect knit
The sole reason remains and forever is
Our God, who holds the Key; it was always His

" 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.' "
Jeremiah 29:11

“Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure. Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom; in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth without knowing whose it will finally be. But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you."
Psalms 39:4-7

"All people are like grass, and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”
Isaiah 40:6-8

"I the Lord do not change."
Malachi 3:6a

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."
Hebrews 13:8

"This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins... And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them."
1 John 4:10,16
